Hello there! This is the mandatory introduction post of the (newly restarted) STB Weekly! I won't bother introducing any of the staff; everyone has personal profiles that are viewable to all so it would be pointless to waste space here. No, I think I'll just give you a quick run-down of the STB, why we failed, why we started over, why we failed again, and what we hope to do this time around. Sound long and boring? Well, we'll see about that!
The STB started back in summer of 2003 or so for the purpose of alleviating the boredom of two teenage girls, one of which was myself (Colleen). With no real clear-cut goals in mind we just went at it, writing completely random articles about whatever we felt like (we usually just harrassed some kid named Ian and then posted the hilarious results). We got a few others to join us and we were in business!... for about a week. After that, the initial 'cool' factor of writing for a WebZine wore off and everyone stopped writing. Except for me. The dream was over.
Cut to about a year and a half later (late 2004/early 2005). We were back again! This time we had a new, reliable staff, which included Antiqua. This time it lasted about a month, and the articles we had were half-assed at best (you see, back then I cared more about being liked than I did about a little thing called 'editing') and it was just pathetic and sad. By the end it was just me and Antiqua writing strange rants whenever the feeling grabbed us. The site is actually still up if you're interested: http://www.geocities.com/stb_weekly (for those of you who do go there and get confused, we all used pen names. I was Astrid and Antiqua was.. well, Antiqua). Anyway, after the second failed attempt I was a little disheartened. There were many talks of bringing it back but the same problem always existed: a lack of reliable staff members.
Finally, Antiqua and I decided to just go at it once again. We got Jess on the team, found a better website to work from, and we're actually going to do what our jobs entail: we're going to write. And in my case, be the 'editor'. Whatever that means. In general we hope to have some laughs, spin some tales, and make some memories.
That is, until we get bored and give up again.
